Buffalo, N.Y. concert review Buffalo, N.Y. Concert Review August 1992 Submitted by: CROWEHEAD yeah, i caught the show here on 8/16 at a small concert hall called Shea's Buffalo, it holds about 4000 people which was just enough (any more and the place would collapse--it's very old, and VERY CROWES!-- it's really designed to be a classy joint, with pillars and 20 tuxedo clad ushers and gold leaf every where and private boxes and a huge balcony--for example, Liza Minelli is coming here in October for 4 concerts there) long story short--it was perfect for them. they started as usual with No Speak No Slave, then Sting Me, and then Twice as Hard, then Thorn in my Pride, then She Talks to Angels, then the rest of the second album (except for Bad Luck Blue Eyes and Time Will Tell) and for closers--Stare it Cold, Remedy (complete with sing along--spoonful of sugar) and Jealous Again. if i hadn't already seen Metallica/GNR at Rich Stadium (home of the Buffalo Jills) this would have been the concert event of my life, but now that i reexamine it, it WAS the concert event of my life because GNR may not be around forever, or whatever (ex. i went to see POISON 2 years ago, my first concert so obviously i was blown away) but the CROWES definitely kicked major ass. the stage was the same set up they used on the Tonight Show, with Rich Robinsons painted Marshall stacks, the 5 oriental rugs, and the hemp fishing nets, which they closed before it started. there was a net above them which adorned 3 DISCO balls, and all the nets were strung with Xmas lights "Are You Ready?", and old R and B song started it off and then they launched into it with more ferocity than i've seen since the scene in Twin Peaks when they showed Laura Palmer actually being killed by the vicious BOB. or another description--more violent than the LA riots. this was actually the shortest amount of time i waited to get excellent seats for a concert too!! only 2 hours.
